Virtual Supports

Virtual Supports offers a weekly schedule of recreational and leisure activities for participants to engage in fun, therapeutic activities on an online platform with other Autistic adults. Virtual Facilitators conduct virtual groups Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. As we are revamping this service, there may be additional hours in the afternoons and evenings based on popularity and demand.

Examples of recreational activities facilitated in virtual supports include, but were not limited to:

-            Physical fitness and yoga

-            Creative arts and self-expression

-            Group games and trivia

-            Cooking and meal preparation

-            Health, wellness and nutrition

-            Travel Tuesdays: explore different countries and expand cultural awareness

-            Music appreciation

This platform also allows naturally occurring learning opportunities for participants to practice the following areas with peers with similar goals of social engagement and skill development:

-            Self-advocacy skills

-            Organization and time management

-            Making choices

-            Flexibility and compromising with others

-            Problem solving with a group

-            Goal setting and attainment

-            Social emotional self-regulation

-            Engagement with others

This program is recommended for those who:

-            Currently receive Day Habilitation Services

-            Can independently log in and use Zoom with minimal assistance

-            Can participate in virtual-based activities without 1:1 support

-            Can safely and respectfully engage in an online platform with other participants and virtual facilitators

-            Are open and willing to participate in activities in the presence of other Autistic people with a variety of strengths and support needs

-            Are looking for opportunities to make new friends
